Collecting postcards is a major hobby pursued across the globe. Since centuries, one of the important tasks of tourists has been to send postcards back home, to family and friends. Postcards have also been a mode of communication.
In India, the Postal Department (India Post) prints postcards of various kinds, such as Meghdoot postcards, ordinary postcards, picture postcards etc. As far as my collections is concerned, I collect picture postcards on various themes. But the two most important themes which I cover are:
1. UNESCO World Heritage Sites
2. Royal Families
Thanks to the modern modes of communication, postcards are not widely used today for sending messages. However, those collecting postcards are helped by www.postcrossing.com and other such websites. There are many postcard collectors still across the world.
Through this blog, I hope to share my postcard and philately collection with others.
